Favourite Sitcoms

I love watching movies and TV-series, you must know by now, and sitcoms are no exception to that. One of the Dutch television channels always airs sitcoms during the weekdays from about 6 PM to 8:30 PM, absolutely lovely to me. The series change now and then which is nice as well. So let me below list my favourite sitcoms out there (even though not all of them are regularly on TV anymore or stopped making new episodes). Let me know what your guys favourites are!

F.R.I.E.N.D.S
The first season introduces the six main characters: Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler, and Ross. Rachel arrives at Central Perk after running away from her wedding to her fiancĂ© Barry and moves into her best friend from high school's (Monica’s) apartment with her. Ross, who had a crush on Rachel since high school, constantly tries to tell Rachel that he loves her, while his lesbian ex-wife, Carol, is expecting his baby. Joey is shown to be a bachelor and struggling actor, while Phoebe works as a masseuse. Chandler breaks up with girlfriend Janice who frequently returns in later seasons.

According to Jim
Jim often finds himself in messy situations because his laziness inclines him to search for alternative ways of doing things with least effort. While Cheryl's brother Andy may be Jim's best friend, her sister Dana frequently teams up with Cheryl against Jim. He also prefers to lie to Cheryl and Dana to do his own activities but they end up backfiring on him. He hates losing to women, especially if Cheryl or Dana find out. He doesn't like people interrupting him when he talks, so he speaks over them to shut them up. Jim often makes an example of Andy, who doesn't have a girlfriend. Dana and Jim bicker constantly, but Dana flirts with Jim when she's drunk.

The Big Bang Theory
The show is centered on five characters: roommates Leonard Hofstadter and Sheldon Cooper, Penny, a waitress and aspiring actress who lives across the hall; and Leonard and Sheldon's equally geeky and socially awkward friends and co-workers, aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz and astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali. The geekiness and intellect of the four guys is contrasted for comic effect with Penny's social skills and common sense.

 Rules of Engagement
Two couples and their single friend deal with the complications of dating, commitment and marriage. It looks at different relationships in various stages, starring Patrick Warburton and Megyn Price as a long-married couple, Oliver Hudson and Bianca Kajlich as newly engaged sweethearts, and David Spade and Adhir Kalyan as their still-single friends.

  1. I'm a big fan of the Big Bang Theory. :) Watched some random episodes of Friends once in a while. But don't watch the other shows. Sometimes a good sitcom can brighten up your day! (one thing senders = channels)

  7. I've watched most of Friends, but that's mostly because my sister used to watch it all the time. I also really like TBBT.
I've watched a few episodes of According to Jim here and there, but I didn't really like this so much.
The only thing I'd have to add is New Girl!

  8. I love Friends so much! I re-watch all the episodes every year! It's the best sitcom like ever. I like TBBT too, but I'm not a really big fan. Just watch episodes once in a while.
